Six people have died while two others are in critical condition following a vehicular accident at Haomoko near Ejura in the Ashanti region.

The injured are also responding to treatment at the Ejura Government Hospital.

The accident, which occurred around 8:45am yesterday [Thursday], involved an Opel Astra Taxi cab and a Rhino truck.

Ejura/Sekyedumase District Police Commander, Chief Superintendent Richardson Kumeko who confirmed the tragic incident to XYZ News said five passengers died on the spot after the two vehicles collided head-on.

“Five people died on the spot and one died at the hospital. Two males, two females and two children”, the police chief narrated.

He also said the survivors, who are both drivers sustained various degrees of injuries and are responding to treatment at the Ejura Government Hospital.

Chief Supt Richard Kumeko said families of the deceased are yet to identify the body of the deceased which have since been deposited at the Mampong Government Hospital morgue.

The vehicles have since been towed from the accident scene.
