Angry Youth Attack Police Station At Tumu

Some irate youth of Tumu in the Upper West region have attacked their local police station leading to the vandalism of properties.

The incident which happened on Friday, May 18,2018 follows the arrest of some two persons on Thursday May 17 at the Tumu Dam site, which resulted in the drowning of one person identified as Kanwei.

The deceased ran from the police when they were being pursued by police.

Police found “22 wraps of dried plant material suspected to be Cannabis, 12 capsules of 225mg of Tramadol, a quantity of snuff, one dagger and one Techno phone” when the the other two were arrested.

The drowning of Kanwei who was smoking with the arrested suspects did not go down well with the youth who then rushed to attack the police station on Friday.

According to the Upper West Regional Police Commander,DCOP Okyere Boah Appiah, the group “besieged the police station and vandalised it and also caused damage to a police vehicle,” after the body of the drowned suspect was retrieved.
