CAF CC : Aduana Stars 3-3 Raja Casablanca

Aduana Stars were held to a pulsating 3-3 draw at the Nana Agyemang Badu Park in their second group game of the CAF Confederation Cup on Wednesday 16th May 2018

The Moroccans started the game brightly and were rewarded with the opener from Mahmoud Benhalib on the 11th minute after Aduana Stars were caught ball watching.

The Ogya boys quickly got back into the game 10 minutes later as Congolese forward Uba Ikama connected a cross from Caleb Amankwah which Bright Adjei failed to finish but Lema Mabidi restored the lead for the visitors with 6minutes to the break.

Aduana stars came back strongly with an equalizer 3minutes into the second half after former WAFA defender Caleb Amankwah headed home a corner from Noah Martey. It was game on as the Ogya Boys pushed for a winner.

There was pandemonium at the Nana Agyemang Badu Park as Mahmoud Benhalib grabbed his second of the day with a curled shot right in front of the box. The flares went up at the away stands.

Aduana’s profligacy upfront would be a set-back for their dominance as they searched for an equalizer. Substitute Nathaniel Asamoah missed a couple of glorious opportunities before finally breaking the hearts of the Raja Casablanca fans with a 95th minute equalizer right at the death.

Aduana stars now have just 1 point in two games having conceded 4 goals. They host Congolese side As Vita in their next game on 17th July, 2018 at the Nana Agyemang Badu Park

“It was an open game for both sides with end to end action. The Ogya boys have to work on their defense because they look too shaky and unsure of themselves which made matters difficult for them to keep their opponent at bay. All the goals they conceded could have been avoided had Aduana stars maintained they composure at the back. Yusif Abubakar has to work on his attackers because lots of chances were spurned today which was similar to what happened in their first game against ASEC weeks ago. If Aduana Stars work on these areas they could pull surprises in their subsequent games”.
