Some concerned carpenters have embarked on an initiative to make life better for pupils of basic schools in the Asunafo North Municipality.
They are repairing damaged desks in deprived schools in their area at no cost to government nor the schools.
The Mim Carpenters Association said the move is their corporate social responsibility following what appears to be total neglect by the GES and the Assembly.
Vice President of the association, RocksonYeboah, said the GES has been duly informed and has endorsed it.
“Many students did not have furniture to use in class so we decided to help them when government was not responding to their needs. This is the third time we are doing this. They did not invite us but we sent them letters to make available broken chairs. The last time we did this, we did about 800 chairs. The association funds the project and we do not do politics there, we have both NPP members and NDC members in the association”, he said.
