The Municipal Chief Executive of the Kassena-Nankana Municipality of the Upper East Region, Williams Aduum, and the Municipal Director of Education, Anne Kye-Ebo, have toured over twenty-two basic schools in the Municipality to welcome pupils to their first day in school.
Some of the schools visited include Tampola primary, Nimbasinia primary among others.
Interacting with pupils and teachers in the separate schools in the Municipality, Mr. Aduum asked the pupils to set high goals for themselves and to work hard towards the set goals to get them accomplished, adding that although setting high goals was not a panacea to achieving them, it was the first step towards achieving such goals.
He urged the pupils to study hard and take advantage of the Free Senior High School policy.
He added that that is the only way they can bridge the gap between the north and the south.
The MCE also charged teachers to be good role models to the pupils they taught because that was the only way the Municipality and the country at large could bring up responsible people to take over the realms of leadership in the future.
He said teachers should not only put up responsible behaviour in school but also at their homes since they lived with the pupils in the various communities.
Mr. Aduum said the assembly have acquired over one hundred and eighty dual-desk which will be distributed to the schools that do not have chairs for effective teaching and learning.
