The Students Representative Council (SRC) of the University of Cape Coast(UCC) has given a special award to gospel musician cum policeman Suprintendent of Police (SP) Kofi Sarpong.
The award, which is a Life Changing Award, formed part of their SRC Choice Awards.
A citation accompanying the award reads, “For your outstanding and dynamic service as a policeman and music industry player which has made both fields attractive and inspiring.”
Speaking to the Daily Graphic after the ceremony, SP Kofi Sarpong said he was very excited about the award, “I feel good and humbled. It is very heart warming for an institution like the University of Cape Coast to honour me. I am very grateful,” he said.
Meanwhille, SP Kofi Sarpong is busily preparing for his upcoming concert dubbed, “SP Kofi Sarpong Live in Concert, The Night of Favour”, scheduled for the National Theatre on Sunday, May 28.
The event will showcase spectacular performances from seasoned Ghanaian gospel artistes like Nacee, Ohemaa Mercy, Joyce Blessing, Gifty Osei, Abena Ruthy, Francis Amoh, Obaapa Christy, Cece Twum, Unle Ato, Kingz Kid, Niella and a host of others.
According to SP Sarpong, preparations are feverishly underway to ensure that it is successful. “We are working round the clock and I believe we will have a spectacular concert.”
Throwing more light on the concert, he said, “the concert which is expected to attract over 3000 gospel music lovers is being organised to promote my brand to the next level of my career as a gospel artiste as well as raise funds to support registration of over 5000 the children from Jamestown, Chorkor, Mamprobi and of course, my hometown in the Brong Ahafo Region for the National Health Insurance Scheme (NHIS).”
