Ohemaa Candace, a blogger with Ghsplash.com who was arrested last week for publishing a story that said Ghanaian actor Kwadwo Nkansah aka Lilwin had knocked down a fan with a car, has revealed that the Managing Director of Despite Media Group, Fadda Dickson asked cops to pick her up.
The blogger said she was arrested and thrown to cells for publishing a story saying the Kumawood actor had knocked a fan with his customized car at Peace FM.
But Candace, in an interview with Agyemang Prempeh on Power Entertainment on Power 97.9FM, said she was set up by Abeiku Santana, a radio presenter at Okay FM which is operated by Despite Media Company and his boss, Fadda Dickson.
To her, although the actor was a bit furious, he was reluctant to invite the police into the matter.
In a video which has gone viral on the internet and can also be found on the Facebook page of UTV, another media house under Despite Group, Candace was seen being interviewed by Abeiku Santana with Lilwin beside them. She was later arrested by a cop and handcuffed in the video.
“I think it was a set up,” she said as she narrated that she visited Kwame Amoh at the premises of Peace FM where she did the story. She added that she overheard the actor narrrating the story to a front desk executive at Peace FM which alluded that someone had accused him of knocking him down with his car.
Although she admitted that it turned out to be false, she had done the story already and confided in one Sammy Kay who is also a staff of the Despite Media Group. After reading the story, she said Sammy clandestinely forwarded it to his bosses who got him arrested after she was humiliated before a TV camera.
“I believe Sammy Kay set me up. I told him about it and he kept telling me not to go but wait for a while, unknowing he had spoken with his bosses and they had asked him to get me arrested,” Ohemaa Candace told Agyemang.
She believes the CEO of Despite Group, Osei Kwame Despite built the edifice the Tesano Police operates from so they took advantage to get some officials to get her locked behind bars.
