The Chairman of the Appointments Committee of Parliament, Joseph Osei-Owusu, says the committee is satisfied with the performance of the Special Prosecutor nominee, Cynthia Naa-Koshie Lamptey.
He expressed his satisfaction shortly after Madam Lamptey satisfaction in the answers given to questions by members of the committee by deputy Special prosecutor-nominee Cynthia Lamptey when she appeared for vetting today, Wednesday, 16 May 2018 May 16.
“We decided that we will unanimously recommend her to the house for approval. we are satisfied with her performance,” Mr Osei-Wusu told XYZ News’ Charles Akrofi in Parliament on Wednesday.
Cynthia Lamptey, Special Prosecutor Nominee During Her Vetting On Wednesday
Cynthia Naa-Koshie Lamptey was a former Acting Director of Public Prosecution, and has been a Lawyer of about 30 years in good standing with the Ghana Bar.
She worked at the Attorney-General’s Department for over 20 years, until she was relieved of her post in 2015.
The Special Prosecutor nominee was the Director of Public Prosecutions during the erstwhile John Mahama administration.
When she is approved, she will assist Martin ABK Amidu at the Special Prosecutor’s Office created by the president in accordance with the Special Prosecutor Law, 2017 passed by parliament to help fight corruption in the country.
