The Country Director of the World Bank, Professor Henry Kerali has attributed the poor infrastructure in the country to the failure of Civil engineering practitioners to perform their duties effectively as a result of inefficient regulation.

He said the lack of proper regulations leads to professional lapses and financial loss which in turn undermines the credibility of the engineering profession.

Professor Kerali has therefore advocated the need for Civil Engineering practice in the country to be properly regulated to ensure responsibility and discipline from practitioners.

Prof. Kerali was speaking at a Civil Engineering conference organised by the Ghana Institution of Engineers in Accra.

The conference was on the theme “Regulating Civil Engineering Practice for Effective Delivery.
