National House Of Chiefs Lauds Free SHS, ‘Ghana Card’

The National House of Chiefs has commended the President and his government for keeping one of the New Patriotic Party’s (NPP) campaign promises of implementing Free Senior High School (SHS).

The house has therefore, assured government of its support for the Free SHS programme.

Addressing members of the house on Thursday, September 28, Togbe Afede XIV, President of the National House of Chiefs, described Free SHS as a very important social intervention programme, urging members of the house to support government sustain the policy.

“Education is the best weapon against poverty so Nananom welcome the Free SHS initiative and we plead with all and sundry to support it so that it would indeed come to stay”, the paramount chief of the The Agbogbomefia of the Asogli State said, adding, “the concept of the ‘Ghana Card’ is also very exciting and we commend government for that”.

Touching on governance, Togbe Afede XIV urged members to contribute their quota to national development devoid of
partisan politics.

“Let me remind all of us that the continuous provision that bars us from partisan politics is not intended to keep our mouths shut. As citizens everything good or bad in this country affects us and we can not be apathetic spectators”, he stressed.
