The Upper West Regional Police Command has ordered people in illegal possession of weapons to voluntarily surrender them or face arrest.
The Regional Command also warns recalcitrant offenders would be prosecuted.
The order follows the seizure of some fire arms at Loho barrier, a spot near the Wa Municipality.
The suspects have been identified Nyame Purokiamah, 61, Michael Sonkara, 32.
Wife of another suspect, Bartholomew Daryenkye, who is now at large was also arrested.
Addressing journalists on Tuesday, Deputy Upper West ACP. Peter A. Ndekugri told journalists that efforts are being made to arrest other accomplices.
The three suspects he added, are in custody and would be arraigned.
“We are prepared to get to the suppliers. We are appealing to the public when you see someone with a gun inform us and it will lead to the supplier. It is one of the biggest catch we have seen in Upper West” the deputy police chief stated.
In a related development, police at Hohoe have launched a search for two persons who were in possession of 12 locally made pistols and 4 barrel guns.
The two, who were on board a Taxi immediately took to their heels after they noticed police presence at a check point near Hohoe.
Police later found the weapons in a sack and a bag upon a search in the vehicle.
The weapons have been kept as exhibits as part of police investigations.
