Woman In Labour Dies After Failing To Raise 500 Cedis Doctor Motivation Fees

Angela Afriyie Agyemang, a 30-year-old pregnant woman died with her unborn baby at the Suntreso Government Hospital in Kumasi, last week after she failed to immediately raise 500 cedis ‘Doctor motivation fee’.

Sources say she was due for a caesarean section after medics realised she could not give birth by herself. But she was not to be allowed entry into the theatre on Wednesday, 4 July 2018 until her husband paid the money.

Narrating the incident, Pastor Solomon Lamour- Latiff Agyemang of the House of Faith Ministry in Kumasi, husband to the deceased, said his wife later died at the theatre moments after he had managed to pay the said ‘Doctor Motivation fee’.

Angela Afriyie Agyemang later died at the theatre moments after  as her husband had made available the GHC500 fee for which she had been denied medical attention.

He also revealed that his wife was left in a wheel chair at the entrance of the theatre for three hours without any attention from nurses.

Pastor Agyemang has therefore vowed to sue the hospital for negligence and discrimination.
