GPL WEEK 14: Medeama Increase Lead At The Top

Match Day 14 of the Zylofon Cash Premier League produced some interesting results.

Medeama SC thumped former Champions Wa All Stars 4-1 at the Tarkwa Na Aboso Park. Kwame Boateng and Kwesi Donsu grabbed a brace each while Richard Arthur got the consolation goal for Wa All stars. The win means Medeama are yet to drop points at home (P 7 W7 D0 L0) as they keep their 100% record intact.

A solitary strike from Shafui Mumuni ensured Ashanti Gold record a 1-0 win over Dreams Fc to maintain their 100% home record (P6 W6 D0 L0). The miners now move to 2nd position on the log and are yet to concede a goal at home this season having scored 7 goals.

WAFA were held to a 1-1 draw at the Sogakope Red Bull Arena. Substitute William Opoku Mensah broke the hearts of the Academy boys with a 94th minute equalizer after Musa Nuhu gave the home side the lead 10 minutes into the second half.

Asante Kotoko’s poor away from continue as they drew 1-1 with Liberty Professionals at the Karl Reindorf Park. Edwin Tuffour gave the home side the lead through the spot kick before Captain Amos Frimpong also equalized from the spot kick. Kotoko have only won a game ( vs Wa All Stars) on the road this season. ( P7 D2 L 4).

Eleven Wonders returned to winning ways as they defeated Berekum Chelsea 2-0. Goals from Owusu Benjamin and Abdul Fatawu Safui were enough to ensure the newly promoted side recorded their 5th win of the campaign.

Yakubu Mohammed’s brace was not enough as Elmina Sharks were held to a 2-2 draw by Ebusua Dwarfs. Yakubu grabbed the opener with a powerful freekick before Amos Kofi Nkrumah also equalized in similar fashion. The Kotoko Loanee restored the lead for the home side but Kofi Nkrumah levelled things up again from the spot kick. Elmina Sharks have drawn the most games(7) in the league this season.
