Kwesi Appiah Names 23-Man Squad For Sierra Leon Clash

Black Stars head coach, James Kwasi Appiah, has announced a 23-man squad for Ghana’s double header with Sierra Leone set for 11th and 14th of October in the 2019 AFCON qualifiers.

The game would be honoured at the Baba Yara Sports stadium in Kumasi as Ghana seeks to seal a spot for next year’s Africa Cup of Nations in Cameroon.

Seven players have made a return to the squad with Skipper Asamoah Gyan and Mubarak Wakaso, Portugal based defender Lumor Agbenyenu, Bernard Mensah, Richmond Boakye Yiadom,  and Jonathan Mensah have all make a return after not making the final cut in last month’s game against Kenya, while Asante Kotoko shot stopper Felix Annan remains the only local based player in the team .

The Ayew Brothers thus Dede Ayew and Jordan Ayew who play for Turkis side Fenerbahçe and Crystal Palace respectively were not called for the double header .

The Black Stars would be looking to bounce back from their 1-0 defeat to Kenya last month as they fancy their chances against Sierra Leone at the Baba Yara Sports stadium.
