Leading July: Mawuena Trebarh Talks About Values That Make Authentic Leaders

A renowned  Business strategist with rich experience in both the private and public sector, Mrs. Mawuena Adzo Trebarh is calling on Ghanaians especially the youth to make excellence, integrity and persistence their hallmark as they seek to become authentic leaders.

According to the business strategist, these coupled with regular performance review will aid accelerate the drive to achieving better results in the field of leadership.

Mrs. Trebarh, the Board Chair of Movenpick Ambassador Hotel Ghana, who took her turn on the Morning Xpress on Radio XYZ 93.1 MHZ as one of the 20 speakers lined up for this year’s Leading July Series under the theme, Authentic leadership, urged Ghanaians to live beyond the negative stories that have engulfed them but rather make a conscious effort at looking at the positive ones.

Emphasising on the objectives of a leader, she said:”More often than not, you can’t really hear much of the success stories. Quite a lot of what we see in our media space, unfortunately, doesn’t really celebrate innovation…we are most fixated on what perhaps we call pessimistic news…For me, if my objective is to inspire to encourage, to motivate, then  I’m going to intentionally look for those success stories; and that is not to say I must not confront the negativity”.

The Former Corporate Affairs Executive of MTN Ghana who was speaking on Values that make Authentic Leaders, also cautioned those in authority to make a conscious effort at raising authentic leaders by constantly telling the compelling stories of the youth who have made through the odds.

“…Any leader who doesn’t have a succession plan is not a leader,” the former Corporate Affairs Executive of MTN Ghana stated as she urged leaders to always make room for succession plans at all times.

Mrs. Trebarh however cautioned the youth to build what she described as a culture of respect for those in authority

Mawuena Adzo Trebah is a former CEO of the Ghana Investment Promotions Centre (GIPC).

She has a wide range of experience in the mining sector. She became Communications Manager at Newmont Ghana Limited.
