Man Arrested For Impersonating Police Officer

A 27-year-old man, Francis Mampare, has been arrested by police in Kumasi for impersonation and unlawful possession of police accoutrement.

The suspect was at the Le Prive Hotel located at Atwima-Manhyia, near Abuakwa to provide security during a pool party organised by management of the facility over the weekend.

The suspect, who was impersonating as a policeman from the Community Protection Unit at the Suntreso District Headquarters was seen wearing a police uniform when personnel from the Regional Police Headquarters proceeded to the hotel upon a tip off.

The suspect, was found dressed in Ghana Police Uniform and in a pair of black boot with police pouch around his waist.

Other items such as a pair of handcuffs, pepper spray, knife and a teaser were also retrieved.

During interrogations, the suspect told the police that he got the uniforms and the handcuffs from one Eric, a former police officer at the Yeji Police Station but bought the other accoutrement from the Police Training Schools in Kumasi and Koforidua.

The exhibits have been retained whilst suspect is detained for investigations.
