MTN Fa Cup Semifinals: Kototo- Medeama Rained Off

Hearts of Oak booked a place in the final of the MTN FA CUP after seeing off premier league champions Wa All Stars in a 2-1 victory at the Obuasi Len Clay Sports Stadium on Sunday.

The phobians who had won only twice in their last seven meetings with Wa All stars proved a handful for their bogey side on the day. Malik Akowuah who won man of the match showed glimpses of his Medeama form early in game as he dictated play from deep.

Hearts of Oak stars from the just ended WAFU tournament would run the show for the Accra based side as winger Patrick Razak broke the deadlock in the 31st minute after he was put through by Thomas Abbey who starred as a left back for the Black stars B.

Kwame Kizito doubled his side’s lead seven minutes into the second half, capitalizing on a mistake from Wa All Stars defence.

All stars substitute, Samuel Atta Mensah, pulled one back-only. The second hearts have conceded in the competition- in the 69th minute after superbly connecting a cut back cross from captain Hafiz Adams who did well to get in the penalty area.

Wa All Stars grew in confidence and were on the front foot in search of an equalizer but the phobians were resolute to see the rest of the game.

The ten-time winners, Hearts of Oak, are the most successful club in the competition. They have failed to win the trophy since defeating Okwahu United 2-0 in 2000.

‘’We are delighted to get into the Fa cup final’’

Hearts Of Oak coach Frank Nuttal:

“I knew the players will be motivated and focused and of course we are delighted to get into the finals. We have said it quite clearly that we are trying to win every competition and game we participate in’’

“Officiating frustrated the game’’

Wa All Stars coach Alhaji Sokpari:

I think that somewhere along the line officiating frustrated the game. It’s about time officiating officials move away from our two glamorous clubs. I still respect Hearts as a glamorous club and i think that my boys did well
