NDC Boycotts Angel Media Platforms Over ‘Unprofessionalism’

The opposition National Democratic Congress (NDC) has announced its communicators in the Brong Ahafo Region will not be part of any discussion on the platforms of Angel Media Group, owners of KFM in Techiman, Angel 92.3 FM and Cheers FM all in Sunyani.

A letter dated September 13,2018 and signed by Charles Akowuah, NDC Communication Officer for the region, the ” had to take such a painful but necessary decision to boycott all programs with the Angel media group” in the region because the platforms have become “appendage(s)”
of the ruling New Patriotic Party (NPP) and “compromising upon their competence and professionalism” in the interest of the NPP government.

The party, therefore, believes the hosts of political programmes on the aforementioned radio stations have relegated the “collective interest and development” of the country to the background and are rather doing the bidding of government, thereby suppressing the contributions of NDC communicators in the region.

Below is the statement

The communication directorate of the great NDC party in the Brong-Ahafo region has had to take such a painful but necessary decision to boycott all programs with the Angel media group in Brong
Ahafo namely: Angel FM, K.FM, Cheers F.M and any other affiliated stations in the Brong Ahafo

This decision is necessary because it is clear that, the Angel media house has become an appendage
of the NPP and compromising upon their competence and professionalism for the interest of the NPP
and not the collective interest and development of our region.

What is interesting and very scandalous is the fact that, the NDC has been able to contain one Malik
Adjei who was the Regional Communication Director of NPP in Brong Ahafo region for some years
now and till date continues to host Angel in the Morning on Angel TV with one Kwamena Sam Biney
as a co-host. Even today, Thursday, 13th September, 2018 he (Adjei Malik, former Regional
Communication Director of NPP) hosted the morning show on Angel TV. Angel Media, to the best of
our knowledge, is rather being bias towards the NDC than what they are seeking to portray.

It must be noted that, the neutrality and fairness of media coverage is key in our democratic

The NPP cannot and must not decide who sits as morning show host for the media as it
is happening with the Angel Media Group.
Undoubtedly, this is an attempt to prevent the NDC from exposing their super-incompetence which
they have demonstrated in office.

The NPP has woefully failed to deliver on their promises of which
the exchange rate is exposing the weak fundamentals of our ailing economy, the poorly implemented
free SHS, persistent rise in the prices of goods and open corruption.
The NDC, as a key stakeholder in the development of our region and country, is ever ready to work
with other media houses that show neutrality, professionalism and competence as we have done
over the years.

We must state that, until the media house takes steps to address our concerns, none of our party
communicators and officers will partake in any of their shows.
Thank you and God save us from the hands of this insensitive and super-incompetent NPP
