One person has been confirmed dead following a clash between the police officials and some residents at Agbogbloshie, a suburb of Accra on Tuesday.
Report indicates the police officers were attacked by some irate youth when they tried to retrieve some stolen items by a suspected armed robber during a robbery operation the previous night.
A statement signed by ACP David Eklu, Director General Public Affairs said the officers were from the Accra Regional Police Headquarters.
15 persons suspected to have masterminded the attack on the police have since been arrested and are currently in police custody for further investigations.
Meanwhile the Inspector General of Police, David Asante-Apeatu has directed the Criminal Investigations Department (CID) of the Ghana Police Service, to conduct an immediate investigation into circumstances that led to the death of yet-to-be-identified woman during the clash.
