The Appointments Committee of Parliament has begun the vetting of the Deputy Special Prosecutor nominee, Jane Cynthia Naa Koshie Lamptey, today May 16,2018.
Her nomination by President Nana Akufo-Addo was announced in parliament on April 26 by the Speaker of Parliament, Prof Mike Oquaye, when parliament was recalled for an emergency sitting to ratify the agreement establishing the African Continental Free Trade Area (AfCFTA).
Madam Lamptey was a former Acting Director of Public Prosecution, and has been a Lawyer of 30 years in good standing with the Ghana Bar.
She worked at the Attorney-General’s Department for over 20 years, until she was relieved of her post in 2015.
Jane Cynthia Naa Korshie Lamptey was the Director of Public Prosecutions during the erstwhile John Mahama administration.
She will assist Martin ABK Amidu at the Special Prosecutor’s Office created by the president in accordance with the Special Prosecutor Law, 2017 passed by parliament to help fight corruption in the country.
