Rejected WASSA DCE Nominee’s Supporters Attack NDC MP, Smash Windscreen Of V8 Vehicle

Disappointed supporters of the nominee for the Wassa East District Chief Executive, Mr Wilson Arthur on Monday attacked the MP for the area, Isaac Adjei Mensah who they suspected of masterminding the rejection of nominee.

Reports say but for the timely intervention of a Police reinforcement team, the MP, who is a former deputy Minister for Roads and Highways under the Mahama –led administration would have been lynched.

The windscreen of his V-8 vehicle was smashed and security men present had to secure refuge for him at the District Coordinator’s office.

Mr Wilson Arthur, who has twice been defeated by the MP who is a former deputy Minister for Roads and Highways, failed to amass the 2/3 majority, polling 19 of the 30 votes cast.

“There was an attack on my vehicle. I had a narrow escape. I suspect the rejected nominee instructed his people to attack me. I was whisked to the Coordinating Directors office for protection. In fact, the act was unfortunate” ….the MP told XYZ News.

He explained further that he was personally invited by the nominee to witness the programme. “Willie invited me on Saturday. So I drove all the way from Accra to Daboase. I wanted to speak before voting but I was denied that opportunity even though I am an ex-officio member of the Assembly.

The Divisional Commander brought in about 40 Policemen to escort me out of the town” he added
Mr Adjei Mensah has since lodged a formal complaint.
Attempts to get the nominee or the constituency executives for the reaction was unsuccessful as of 9pm when the story was filed on Monday.
