KATH Financially Cleared To Engage 150 Doctors

The Komfo Anokye Teaching Hospital has finally received financial clearance to engage the services of 150 newly qualified medical doctors.

This is in fulfillment of a pledge by the sector Ministry when the hospital suspended admission of emergency cases and other services two weeks ago.

The action was a result of the departure of over 130 Doctors on housemanship after the completion of their service.

Acting Chief Executive of the Komfo Anokye Teaching Hospital, Dr Oheneba Owusu-Danso disclosed this on the sidelines of the hospital’s 2017 Mid-Year Performance Review Workshop in Kumasi today.

“It was an unfortunate situation which shouldn’t have happened. It was because junior house officers were supposed to migrate into senior house officers, usually very few move into other districts. Their financial clearance was not worked on judiciously, so that’s what created the gap. However, we now have the financial clearance to take on the new ones. The new house officers will start work in full swing by the end of this week”, he said.
