The Professional Golfers Association of Ghana has organised a 4-day amateur golf qualifier to get new members to join the professional body.
The championship which tees off at the Daamang Golf Club in the Western Region will see twenty-five (25) amateur Golfers compete for slots, says Mr Ahmed Padori, Director of Operations for PGA Ghana.
” For the first time, we are organizing amateur qualifiers for the young lads to join us unlike previously when we all played and made a cut,” Padori told Power FM Sports Editor, Nana Prempeh.
The competition will begin 11th to 14th August 2021, drawing Golfers from some notable Clubs like Royal Golf Club, Achimota, Nsuta, Tafo, Celebrity, and Tema.
“When you qualify, it is up to you to write to the PGA to be a member,” Padori disclosed.
However, those that will qualify and wish to join the PGA will be trained for 6 months to meet the standards of the professional body.
This is ahead of the Gold Fields PGA Golf Championship qualifiers expected to take place from 7th to 9th September 2021.
Padori also commended Gold Fields Ghana for their support to the Ghana PGA in growing the Association’s membership and also making it competitive in Ghana.
