$ 5mil. bribery allegations: CJ must recuse himself for independent probe –Twum-Barimah

Private legal practitioner Alexander Twum Barimah has said the Chief Justice, Kwasi Anin-Yeboah who is fingered in the alleged bribery scandal should step aside for independent inquiry into the matter.

Speaking on the Morning Update on TV XYZ, Mr Twum-Barimah indicated that the formation of an independent committee to probe the alleged bribery scandal was necessary for the integrity of the Judicial Service headed by the Chief Justice.

“If indeed the CJ is to form a committee he can recuse himself in the formation of the committee. With the persona of the CJ and the position he occupies I’m very sure he will recuse himself,” Twum-Barimah noted.

He posited that the Judicial Service had in the past suffered integrity issues hence anyone found guilty in the matter must not be spared.

“The Chief, Nana Ogyeedom who’s believed to have paid bribes needs to be questioned too because the bribe giver equally commits an offense” he stressed “If this case is not handled well, it will put the name of the Judiciary In disrepute.”

“People will lose confidence in the Judiciary..If at the end of the day the Chief is culpable he should be prosecuted,”he added

The ex police officer said, the committee to probe into the matter must endeavor to do a clean work.
