63rd Vodafone Asantehene Open tees off tomorrow with strict COVID-19 protocol adherence

All is set for the 63rd Vodafone Asantehene Golf Championship in the Ashanti Regional capital, Kumasi,  tomorrow November 12, 2020.

There will be an official opening of the  Championship but without the usual funfair due to COVID-19, said Professor Bernard Kofi Baiden, Head of Operations of the organising committee of the championship.

“We will adhere to the safety protocols because of COVID-19…The championship will be different from the others we are used to. Participants will be screened before the event; we wil check the temperature of the participants and other persons who will turn up at the Kumasi Royal Golf Club,” Prof. Baiden assured in an interview on Power 97.9 FM.

There will  be a total of 180 both professional and amateur golfers registered to take part of this year’s Asantehene Championship. The categories are: Support A & B, Handicap, Championship, Seniors,  and Sponsors.

There are other special events such as Vodafone – Title, Cal Bank – Platinum, Sinapi Aba – Silver,  Stella Artois – Silver which include  men and women.

The total purse for the Pros is GHS 35,000 with the winner pocketing GHS 5,000.

The event is sponsored by telecommunication giant Vodafone Ghana.
