90 percent of upcoming artiste pay for interviews – Kiaani reveals

Upcoming artiste Stephen Kofi Annan known in Showbiz as Kiaani has disclosed that 90% of upcoming artistes do not get the chance to showcase their talents in mainstream media until they pay for interviews.

Speaking on Power Entertainment on Power 97.9 FM, the upcoming artiste who was asked to outline some of the challenges they go through, stated that most radio presenters demand money before granting an upcoming artiste an interview time.

In this regard, he indicated that the rich who can afford will be promoted while those with talent who can’t afford will always fall back.

“With radio, mostly when you are coming you have to pay, with payment too if you can’t afford they [DJs] won’t play your songs,” he observed.

“As for me, I don’t follow trend I do what my spirit asks me to do…I do it but if you don’t follow the trend, it becomes difficult for DJs to play your songs,” he disclosed.

Kiaani added that “Some of the DJs even call to tell you I want you to do a song like this and I tell them I don’t follow trends and I’m not feeding only the DJs.”

“There are a whole lot of people who can’t dance. So is not necessary for me to do dance music alone for dancers but I can do a song and people can really listen to the vibe… is not everyone who can dance … just like me I can’t dance,” he said.

“I will say 90% of the artistes pay before calling for an interview and stuff … even for the DJ to play your songs you will pay,” he added. “They will charge you whether you are good or whatever you will pay.”
