Agric Minister commends Zoomlion for producing organic fertilizer to support farmers

The Minister of Food and Agriculture, Dr. Owusu Afriyie Akoto has commended Jospong Group of Companies for producing organic fertilizer to support farmers in Ghana.

There is a Fertiliser shortage in Ghana due to the Russian and Ukraine war as has been speculated and Farmers are calling on the government to make sure available.

The Agric minister and his team have visited some Farms and also Kumasi compost and recycling plant to see how they use ‘waste’ to produce organic fertilizer .

Dr Afriyie Akoto pleaded with farmers in the country to use organic fertilizer for their farms because in-organic fertilizer is hardly to come out due to the conflict between Russia and Ukraine war.

He made this known in Ashanti Region as part of his tour some Regions across the country to address the challenges of farmers.
He had earlier promised Ghanaians that they will be no shortage of food in the country after interacting with various farmers in the different Regions.

Meanwhile, the Business Development and Communication Manager for Kumasi Compost and Recycling Plant for Jospong Group of Companies in the Ashanti Region ,Mr. Eugene Amo – Asamoah said the duty of Kumasi compost and recycling plant is to collect waste and turn it to compost fertilizer to help Ghanian Farmers.

The manager revealed that, currently they produce three thousand (3,000) tones daily but believes by August, they will be able to produce Nine thousand(9,000) tones daily to support Ghanians farmers through waste they collect from various houses.
He therefore pleaded with Ghanaian farmers to adopt and use their compost for their farms to help promote made in Ghana products as well.

He finally asked for government to support kumasi recycling and compost plant to produce more compost fertilizer to help Ghanaian Farmers.
