Ajumako Enyan Essiam DCE arrested for assaulting police and freeing a suspect in custody

Ajumako Enyan Essiam District Chief Executive Ransford Kwesi Nyarko was arrested by the Central Region Police Command for assaulting a police officer and releasing a suspect into custody.

The DCE is reported to have driven in the company of some men to the Ogyeso Police Station Charge Officer on Wednesday, December 2, 2020.

He is alleged to have ordered his posse to attack the police officer on duty afterwards.

The Regional Police PRO, DSP Irene Oppong, narrating the events leading to the attack, said the victim, Corporal Frank Mensah was at the post when a complainant went to the Charge Office about 9:30 pm to complain that her grandson was assaulted by one Cosmos.

The officer then accompanied the complainant and carried out the arrest and put the suspect in the police cells, collecting statements from the participating parties.

He got a call from someone who introduced himself as Bob, according to the police, but it was said that Bob verbally assaulted him, so he ended the call and went about his duties.

A few minutes later, a motorbike and two cars arrived at the Police Station grounds, including the DCE vehicle.

That was when he was violently assaulted by his attackers and rescued the perpetrator he had previously captured.

The victim reported the problem to the Divisional Headquarters after being attacked.

On Monday, DSP Oppong noted that the DCE had turned to the Regional Police Command from where the case had been transferred for further investigation.

The PRO then emphasized that to ensure that the police officer gets justice, the Command would function tirelessly.
