B.O.T nicknames Akufo-Addo ‘Nana Anumdwa Hene’ over failed campaign promises

A former New Patriotic Party (NPP) youth activist, Bernard Oduro Takyi (B.O.T) has tackled President Nana Akufo-Addo for failing to fulfill most of his campaign promises since 2016.

B.O.T, who deferred to become an independent parliamentary candidate for Sunyani West in the 2020 general elections, said Akufo-Addo’s hallmark is deception.

Speaking on Inside Politics on Power 97.9 FM, Oduro Takyi observed that although he had high hopes in Akufo-Addo prior to the 2016 elections until he became the president of the republic of Ghana.

” Akufo-Addo only talks but doesn’t act. He made a lot of promises before assuming power but after we gave him the nod, he has proven that he is only a talker,” B.O.T told Mugabe Friday afternoon.

Prior to assuming office in 2017, Akufo-Addo said then President John Mahama was incompetent and heartless because he had failed to better the lives of Ghanaians.

He campaigned on tackling corruption head-on, reducing the price of fuel and job creation.

He chastised the Mahama administration for failing to employ teacher and Nursing training school graduates, however, the government has not been able to employ most of the graduates from those colleges since 2017.

Recently, commercial drivers embarked on a nationwide strike over high fuel prices.

Some driver unions will on Monday increase their fares by 40% due to the incessant fuel hikes.

Labour agitations have soared in the past year due to the Akufo-Addo government’s failure to meet the demands of public sector workers.

It is for this reason that B.O.T descended on president Akufo-Addo whom he vigorously campaigned for in the run up to the 2016 elections.

He contended that most of the promises Akufo-Addo gave Ghanaians have not been fulfilled yet the President keeps promising Ghanaians of new projects.

He believes that controlling the prices of petroleum products and creating a conducive environment for businesses to thrive should not be a huge task for Akufo-Addo and his vice, Dr Mahamadu Bawumia, who promised Ghanaians a new Ghana where opportunities would be available for all irrespective of their religion and political affiliation.

“Let it be known that on this day I named President Akufo-Addo ‘Nana Anumdwa Hene’ [ Nana the talker],” B.O.T said.

The former Presiding Member for Sunyani West Municipal Assembly explained that he had to nickname the president because he has failed Ghanaians.

” Before he came to power, he said he was going to adopt the ‘Anas principle’ to tackle graft but today, Akufo-Addo’s appointees are swimming in corruption. When they are caught on tape, the president exonerates them, ” Oduro Takyi stated.

As a former NPP executive, he advised Ghanaians not to believe the promises of NPP appointees but rather vote them out in 2024.
