‘Blame Akufo-Addo for Owusu Bempah’s arrogance and violence’ – Joshua Akamba

The National Organiser of the largest opposition National Democratic Congress (NDC) has condemned the violent nature of the founder and leader of the Glorious Word Power Ministry, Rev Isaac Owusu Bempah.

Akamba said the self-acclaimed spiritual father of President Akufo-Addo has been “pampered” by the presidency for far too long.

“Owusu Bempah has become disrespectful, arrogant and rowdy because of his affiliation with President Nana  Akufo-Addo…He claims to be untouchable because he is with the President,” Akamba fumed on Accra-based Neat FM.

Akamba who was reacting to the arrest of Owusu Bempah and three of his junior pastors indicated that if not for the support the presidency always give the self-acclaimed nation’s prophet, Owusu Bempah could not invade the residence of other people and threaten them with guns and other weapons.

Owusu Bempah was nabbed by cops on Sunday for the creation and circulation of multiple videos containing threats, and the brandishing of a weapon.

Police say after acting upon intelligence to arrest the preacher, some people close to him assaulted some police officers.

The controversial man of God and his junior pastors are currently in the custody of the Ghana Police Service after an Accra Circuit Court remanded them to reappear before the court after seven days.

He pleaded not guilty to charges including offensive conduct conducive to breach of peace, the threat of death, and assault of office public officers proffered against him, and has been asked by the court to be kept in police custody for a week.

Two other suspects are, however, said to be on the run and are being pursued by the police.

Rev Owusu Bempah and his junior pastors were put before court on Monday, September 13, 2021.
