Brave Ewes do not fear guns – Kwame A-Plus

Following news reports that there is a strong military presence in the Volta region ahead of the general elections on Monday, December 7, 2020, social media analyst Kwame Asare Obeng, popularly known as A-Plus, said that gun-wielding military men are unshaken by ewes.

It is obvious, he says, who has to be at the polling station on election day, hence the need for military men not to try and suppress eligible voters.

Therefore in order to prevent any messy scene before during and after the elections, he called upon the military men in the area to revoke their decision to suppress voltarians.

The musician turned politician said in a live Facebook video, “…You deployed soldiers to the Volta region.” There’s no fear of weapons for a ewe guy, so don’t go and start something that you can’t finish… the constitution is really specific on who wants to be at the polling station. You can’t suppress the resilience of a Ewe man.’

He continued that everything about the conversation, patience, and education is all that is needed for a peaceful election” is the general election.

A security personnel was deployed to the Volta region in September 2020 to calm the situation in the aftermath of the Western Togoland Secessionist attacks in the region.

Both the Volta House of Chiefs and the opposition NDC called upon the government to remove the military from the region as a matter of urgency, but their appeal was not heard.

According to Togbe Patamia Dzekley, vice president of the Volta House of Chiefs, the security presence in the area could suppress votes on election day.

In a reaction to the above-mentioned assertion, Defense Minister Dominic Nitiwul said the military men were deployed in the wake of the deadly coronavirus to protect all the country’s borders.

He stressed that the military in the Volta region had to help the Ghanaian Immigration Service to implement the Akufo-Addo Directive on the closure of borders.
