Chereponi: Police arrest 12 in conection with communal clashes

The Police have picked up at least 12 persons on Wednesday (24 August 2022) over their alleged involvement in communal clashes in the Chereponi district  of the North-East Region.

The clashes led to the burning down of 16 houses and the killing of several livestock a month ago on 25 July 2022 in the Gbalo and Kukpong/Sagong communities in the Chereponi District of the North-East Region.

The arrest, according to a police statement, was through an intelligence-based operation on August 24, 2022, following the incident on July 25, 2022.

The suspects are Sulemana A. Mumuni, Salifu Abdulai, Sulemana Seidu, Alidu Mukaila, Adam Naaba,  and Alhassan Nasona.

The rest are Bawah Yakubu Ibn Mohammed, Bawah Salisu, Imoro Bomah, Imoro Karim, Adams Nasona and Abdulai Yussif.

The suspects are to be arraigned before court today, August 25, 2022.
