Chiefs of Volta are angry; Napo must apologise for his reckless comment – De Soso

Former first National Vice-chairperson of the National Democratic Congress (NDC), Anita Desoso, has stated that almost all Chiefs in the volta Region are angry due to comments from some officials of the Nana Akufo-Addo led government.

Speaking on the GUMBE show, she stated that comments from some officials of the NPP government are insulting and derogatory towards the people of Volta Region.

She specifically pointed to the recent remarks of Energy Minister, Dr. Matthew Opoku Prempeh.

The Minister who is also the Member of Parliament for Manhyia South Constituency categorically stated that he would lead the people of Kumasi on a demonstration if the Finance Minister allocates funds for the Keta Sea Defense Project.

Dr Matthew Opoku Prempeh is Minister for Energy.

He made this statement in an interview with Asempa FM’s Osei Bonsu (OB) on the Ekosii Sen Programme.

The Minister stressed that the NDC during its tenure in office did not undertake the Keta Sea Defense Project even though they had funds that were allocated for the said project.

He said the budget is a national business document that cannot solve all the issues in Ghana hence addressing only the needs of the people of Keta would be unfair as there are other Ghanaians who equally need assistance.

He cited the people of Ashanti Region who were affected by floods this year but virtually nothing has been done to tackle the perennial floodings.

Against this Anita Desoso said “the president’s response to the Chief of Aflao on the opening of an E-Block built in his community, and comments of K.T Hammond on the people of Volta has all been inciting”.

She added that she is an elderly woman who has nowhere to go and therefore callls on the Energy Minister and president Nana Akufo Addo to render an unqualified apology to the people of Volta Region.
