Chinese Galamsey Queen, Ashia Huang, Re-arrested, remanded by Court

Notorious Chinese national, Huang Ruixia alias Ashia Huang, who was reportedly deported in 2018, after several arrests for illegal mining activities has been arrested again in Ghana.
An Accra Circuit Court today remanded the Chinese galamsey kingpin into Police custody for engaging in mining without a license.
She has also been charged for engaging in the sale and purchase of minerals without a valid license.
Briefing the court headed by Judge Samuel Bright Acquah, Detective Chief Inspector Fredrick Sarpong said the complaints are the Security and Intelligence officers in Accra.
According to the Police prosecutor, Ashia Huang sneaked back into the country in the early part of this year and started the purchase and sale of minerals without a valid licence.
She was also involved in the sale of equipment used in illegal mining activities.
The Prosecutor also reminded the Court that Ashia Huang was arrested for a similar offense in 2017 and as the case was ongoing she sneaked out of the country but returned to after changing her details on her Chinese passport.
Ms. Huang, who was described as “untouchable” on some media platforms, was in 2017 charged with undertaking small-scale mining operations contrary to Section 99 (1) of the Minerals and Mining Act, 2006 (Act 703).
She was also charged with providing mine support services without valid registration with the Minerals Commission.
In 2018, the then Senior Minister, Nana Yaw Osafo Maafo, justified the decision.
Justifying why the state had to deport the Chinese national, the Senior Minister, addressing some concerns of Ghanaians in the diaspora at a town hall meeting on April 18, 2019, revealed that, “putting [Aisha Huang] in jail in Ghana is not going to solve your money problem. It is not going to make you happy or me happy.”
Her deportation meant the state discontinued the trial against her.
Critics are questioning how she sneaked into the country and boldly begun her clandestine business
