Christian Council partners AritaGlobe; urges women to take breast screening seriously

The General Secretary of the Christian Council of Ghana, Rev. Dr.Cyril Fayose has encouraged women and even men to get themselves examined against breast cancer.

Speaking to a team from the AritaGlobe Foundation that visited him during their breast cancer awareness campaign Dr. Fayose reminisced a saying during his childhood days in school and advised that prevention is better than cure.

“When I was growing up in school, we were thought that prevention is better than cure, and a stitch in time saves nine. So breast cancer is such that when we get to know at the latter stage of the disease, your chance of survival is almost nil. But if you go for screening and it’s caught at the early stage, the chances of survival is almost 100 percent,” he emphasized.

He further urged the public to adhere seriously to education by the AritaGlobe Foundation which is sensitizing Ghanaians on the need to be screened within this month.

“So AritaGlobe foundation will be coming to you, take the education they will bring to you very seriously and comply” he added.

Miss International Ghana 2021, Queen Adiza Addo has also joined the AritaGlobe campaign train to create awareness on breast health.

October is globally declared as a month to raise awareness to reduce the stigma of breast cancer through education on symptoms and treatment.

In addition to increasing awareness of the disease, organizations also raise funds for research into its cause, prevention, diagnosis, treatment, and cure.
