Coup Plot Case: – IGP petitioned to arrest S/Sgt Sulley Awarf as cover-up attempts backfire

The ongoing Coup Plot case is taking another twist following a formal petition to the Inspector General of Police, COP Dr George Akuffo-Dampare to arrest government’s key witness, Staff Sargent Sulley Awarf.

The petitioner, claims he and his family are now under constant threat by security operatives including some military officials and assigns at the National Investigations Bereau over failed attempts to compromise him to coverup.

According to the petition sighted by, the petitioner claims to be the real, Douglas Kwadwo Awarf, born and bred at Bechem in the then Brong Ahafo region.

My has also sighted supportive documents as claimed by the petitioner that he attended Bechem Primary and JHS, before proceeding to Tepe Senior High School where he obtained SSCE/WASSCE in 2004.

He insists, he became aware of the crime when the alleged impersonator, a friend he has known in his youthful days as Innusah Napor Sulley, admitted in Court last month, he used someone’s certificate to enroll into the Ghana Armed Forces and that he has a 2nd Class Diploma in Woodwork from Bechem Technical Institute.

Douglas Kwadwo Awarf, in his petition also says the admission in Court by government’s key witness that he was involved in a murder case puts his life at risk.

Douglas Kwadwo Awarf claims, since he became aware of the confession, his family, school mates and other close associates have been inundated with surprise visits by security personnel, attempting to influence him to remain silent.

Counsel for the accused Coup plotters (three civilians, six military personnel, and a senior police officer) Lord and Lords Legal Practitioners who are privy to the impersonation case are keenly following the development. has seen copies of official request for search to obtain additional records to use against the star witness whose integrity is now being subjected to scrutiny.
