Speaker of Parliament, Rt Hon. Alban Bagbin, has reminded Members of Parliament to adhere to the Covid-19 safety protocols as the country is “not out of the woods” yet.
This was a comment he made in support of a statement issued by the World Health Organization (WHO) beginning this week, at the resumption of the second meeting of the first session of the eighth parliament of the Fourth Republic Tuesday.
Bagbin said the double dose of the vaccine does not give total immunity against the disease, reports Power FM’s Princess Arita Anim .
A statement from the WHO Director-General Tedros Adhanom Ghebreyesus earlier had warned that no country should assume that it’s “out of the woods,” no matter its vaccination rate, as long as the SARS-CoV-2 virus and its variants spread elsewhere, among others.
Speaker Bagbin in confirmation to this call by WHO urged Ghanaian MPs to keep adhering to safety protocols, adding that plans are far advanced for members to take their second jab.
