The police in Asante-Mampong on Friday, March 2 arrested and detained five persons in connection with the robbery attack on the Total Fuel Station at Bosofour.
The suspects have been identified as Inusah Braimah, Idrisu Amidu alias Jogo, Hamidu Zonogor and Kofi Bukari alias Mipellar and Musah Haruna all of Fulani extraction.
Addressing a press conference on Tuesday, March 13, the Ashanti Regional Police Commander, COP Ken Yeboah told journalists that the Police Patrol Team after leaving the filling station extended their patrols towards the Mampong-Ejura road where one of the suspects was arrested.
He narrated, “whiles patrolling, they spotted an Opel Astra Taxi cab with registration number GW 9311 V with two occupants on board at the Kofiase junction. The Patrol Team became suspicious and accosted them but one of the occupants escaped leaving Inusah Braimah who was then driving the said vehicle.”
Police became suspicious and further interrogated the suspect after they retrieved a cash amount of One Thousand Ghana Cedis(GHC1,000) after a search was conducted on him in the Taxi cab.
Suspect, Inusah Braimah who admitted to the crime led the police to retrieve two shotguns, Eleven live Supreme FTB BB and AAA, 32 GR 70MM Cartridges and two torch lights.
The police also found two pair of trousers in the bush which belonged to the suspect and another accomplice.
Mr Ken Yeboah indicated that Inusah Braimah led police to arrest to arrest all the four other suspects at Memeneso, near Ejura in the Brong Ahafo Region on March 10, 2017.
Police, he added, have launched a manhunt for the other accomplices who have been mentioned by the suspects to face the full rigors of the law.
Gun-wielding robbers, had raided the fuel station on Friday, March 02, and amid firing of gunshots made away with an amount of Eleven Thousand Ghana Cedis(GHC11,000.00).
They seized five assorted mobile phones of the attendants and were reported to have struck at about 1830 hours.
Whilst escaping with their booty, they also attacked a mobile money vendor and forcibly took everything she had on her.
Police swiftly proceeded to the scene but the robbers had left the scene leaving Davis Frimpong the branch manager of the facility with degrees of injuries in the head.
