Declare state of emergency in all mining sites – Occupy Ghana writes another open letter to Akufo Addo

Pressure group, Occupy Ghana has written yet another open letter to the President President Nana Addo Danquah Akufo-Addo to with immediate effect declare a state of emergency in all mining areas in the country.

The call comes barely four days after the group called on government to demonstrate commitment to fight galamsey by prosecuting persons behind the illegal mining activities by Akonta Mining Limited, owned by NPP Ashanti regional chairman, Bernard Antwi Boasiako, aka Chairman Wontumi.

In its latest letter dated 3rd October, 2022, Occupy Ghana urged President Akufo-Addo to seek advice from the Council of State before publishing a Gazette on same.

“We, therefore, request that you take immediate steps towards declaring a state of emergency in every mining area in Ghana.
