Demonstrate And Get Arrested – Police Tells Drivers

The Accra Regional Police Command has cautioned some driver groups in Accra not to demonstrate on the streets of the capital lest they “face the full rigours of the law”.

The group which comprises  the True Drivers Union, Concerned Drivers Association and the National Concerned Spare Parts Dealers, had planned to organise a demonstration today, Wednesday, December 20, 2017, but a statement signed by ASP Effia Tenge said the police believe the act “will cause serious traffic congestion and lead to chaos”.

The statement continued that drivers who will proceed to organise the said demonstration flout the Public Order Act and will be punished accordingly.

The police said the group did  not follow due process to get police  approval therefore any attempt to embark on such act on Wednesday “will amount to unlawful demonstration”.
