Top African journalists have converged in Accra for a two day conference beginning today, to brainstorm on emerging threats against the profession and how to mitigate them.
According to a press release signed by President of the Ghana Journalist Association, Roland Affail Monney the media gurus will discuss strategies to address what it describes as the “worrisome erosion of media freedom” in many African countries and practical steps to reverse the threat.
Members shall also discuss post COVID related issues, job security and explore viable options to strengthen the bargaining capacity of journalist unions in Africa.
Affail Monney who is a Steering Committee member of the Federation of African Journalists said an ‘Accra Declaration’ will articulate future direction of journalism on the continent.
