
An Ashaiman District Court has remanded into police custody one of the convenors of the #FixTheCountry movement, Mr Oliver Mawuse Barker-Vormawor for two weeks.
The police Monday charged Mr Barker-Vormawor with treason felony.
This comes after Police picked him up last Friday following a Facebook post the suspect made “threatening a coup.”
Th Police said in a statement that Barker-Vormawor was arrested by the Tema Regional Police Command.
In his Facebook post, he described Ghana’s Army as “useless” and threatened to embark on the coup himself if the E-Levy was passed by Parliament.
“The post contained a clear statement of intent with a possible will to execute a coup in his declaration of intent to subvert the constitution of the Republic of Ghana,” the police statement dated February 12, 2022, signed by the Director-General of Public Affairs, DCOP Kwesi Ofori said.
