Be Lenient With ‘Okro Mouth’ Obiri Boahen – NPP Council Of Elders To DC

Even before the New Patriotic Party (NPP) Disciplinary Committee (DC) meet and pronounce its verdict on Deputy General Secretary, Nana Obiri Boahen following his comments in a leaked tape, there appear to be some lobbying for them to temper justice with mercy.

The Council of Elders of the New Patriotic Party (NPP) in the Brong Ahafo region are pleading with the Disciplinary Committee tasked to investigate and recommend appropriate sanctions on Nana Obiri Boahen following his conduct, to show the embattled Deputy General Secretary some compassion.

Speaking at a press conference Tuesday, March 13, 2018 in Sunyani which was attended by MyNewsGh.com, the Chairman of the Council, Mr Gabriel Kwame Awuah, said even before the NPP Disciplinary Committee acting on the orders of the Steering Committee concludes its probe, they are apologizing on Obiri-Boahen’s behalf.

He said though Obiri Boahen has admitted to making the comments, he has demonstrated enough remorse and therefore pleaded with the Steering Committee to temper justice with mercy.

Mr. Boahen is heard in an audio complaining bitterly about some happenings in the NPP, lamenting that he has been sidelined in the sharing of the party’s cake.

Nana Obiri Boahen was further heard lamenting about how he was given a paltry GH¢5,000 as a member of the Resolution Committee out of the GH¢50 billion.

“When we were going to Cape Coast the other time, I was given GH¢3,000 as a member of the Resolution Committee and an additional GH¢2,000 for fuel. Meanwhile, the Flagstaff House gave the party an amount of GH¢50 billion,” Boahen alleged.

He has since been slammed by the leadership of the NPP who have rubbished his claims and started an investigation into same only for him to indicate he was peddling palpable falsehood to get information from the person he was speaking with.

But the Council of Elders in the Brong-Ahafo are pleading with authorities to treat his “okro-mouth” comments with kid gloves and allow him to continue to work for the party.
