GHAMRO denies providing GHC250 to Late Akwaboah Snr

Rex Omar, the Chairman of the interim management committee of the Ghana Music Rights Organisation (GHAMRO), has strongly advised veteran highlife songstress Akosua Agyapong to refrain from fabricating stories about GHAMRO.

Akosua Agyapong had recently made allegations stating that the leadership of GHAMRO had neglected the late Kwadwo Akwaboah when he required financial assistance to cover his medical bills.

Responding to these claims on Facebook, Rex Omar categorically labeled Akosua Agyapong as a prolific liar. He expressed his confusion as to why she had chosen to speak about the deceased’s alleged plight only after his passing.

Rex Omar stated, “Akosua is undoubtedly the biggest liar! Why has she not mentioned this until now, when the man is no longer with us? Our welfare records do not indicate any such assistance provided to Kwadwo. He was a proud man who would never express such concerns to anyone.”

He further clarified that during Kwadwo’s entire period of illness, there was only one instance when he sought assistance from GHAMRO. On that occasion, the GHAMRO welfare team accompanied him to the hospital in their vehicle to meet with his doctor. However, no money was directly given to Kwadwo; instead, it was directly paid to the hospital.

Rex Omar emphasized that there are official records available to substantiate these facts and urged Akosua Agyapong to refrain from spreading fabricated stories, allowing the deceased to rest in peace.
