Ghanaians kick against re-registration of sim cards

Some Ghanaians have shared their views on the re- registration of SIM cards, as announced by Vice President Dr Mahamadu Bawumia.

Minister of Communications and Digitalisation, Ursula Owusu-Ekuful, has disclosed that there will be a re- registration of SIM cards with the National Identification Card otherwise known as the Ghana Card will commence at the end of June and last for a period of six months.

The exercise, according to the minister, will concurrently see to the registration of mobile phone devices in a bid to reduce cyber-crime and related illegal activities in the country.

Speaking to TV XYZ reporter Wisdom Hededzome, some Ghanaians kicked against the compulsory SIM card re- registration.

“Its so saddening it has to be taken back a little for people to do theirs. It’s too late because times are hard in Ghana. Ghana we are suffering and they’ve added this,” a trader disclosed.

“For me I don’t think its reasonable because we’ve already registered so there’s no need for us register again,” another person added.

I don’t see any reason why we should register it again because it’s already registered so what about the people in the village . Those who doesn’t have any smartphone how can they register it on their phone and the time. Oh no no is not possible ..To me I don’t see any sensible thing in it “ Person 3.
