Police have arrested at least 14 suspects in connection with the alleged defilement of a 13-year-old girl at Gomoa Adzintem in the Central Region.
It will be recalled that Power FM news broke the story of the alleged defilement on Friday.
XYZ news reporter Alex Donkor reports the teenager (name withheld) was gang-raped and was inflicted with machete wounds.
Narrating her ordeal, she said she was able to recognize that the perpetrators were herdsmen.
The aggrieved youth in the area gave the police a 3-day ultimatum to fish out the criminals.
The Police in a statement announcing the arrest of the suspects said the special deployment of some Formed Police Unit (FPU) personnel to the area Friday night led to the arrest.
The statement signed by ACP Kwesi Ofori, Acting Director-General of Public Affairs of the Ghana Police Service, disclosed that two Pump-action guns, two single-barrel guns, machetes, and other weapons were found on the suspects.
The suspects are being held by the police as investigations continue.
