Gospel Musicians Need Prayers – Rev Yawson

Veteran Gospel Musician Rev Thomas Yawson, has advised Gospel musicians to pray over their marriage.

According to Rev Yawson,
Marriage mirrors God’s covenant relationship with His people hence, it needs a lot of prayers.

In an interview on Legends hosted by Agyemang Prempeh, Mr Lawson disclosed, Gospel musicians need Gods intervention in their marriages.

“Gospel musicians need prayers,  the moment you tell a woman you want to marry her she hides her true self but immediately you marry her  things begin to pop up”, he added

One would have thought, if an anointed and soul-moving gospel singer marries a pastor, life becomes a “rosy” affair.

It is therefore surprising when such marriages break down easily despite their knowledge in the word of God, that is, the numerous Bible verses speaking against divorce (Matthew 5:31-32, Mark 10:2-12, Luke 16:18, 1 Corinthians 7:39, etc.)

In Ghana, several highly gifted gospel musicians have had their marriages “falling on rocks” due to various reasons best known to themselves.

We take a close look at Ghanaian gospel musicians whose marriage to pastors have been put “asunder”

1. Diana Hopeson

Formerly Diana Akiwumi, the musician separated from her husband some years ago over claims of abuse.

She recently revealed that the problem that led to the collapse of her first marriage was entirely a medical, emotional and psychological issue on the part of her former husband.

She is now married to Rev. Dr. Emmanuel Hopeson, another preacher.

2. Gifty Adorye

Singer Gifty Osei was married to Prophet Prince Elisha Osei, a preacher.

The two had been together for about 10 years before splitting up in 2014 after which they legally ended their marriage in 2017. The gospel songstress is currently married to the NPP’s Hopeson Adorye at a private location in Accra.

3. Christiana Love

Formerly “Christiana Love” she was married to a pastor Pastor Hammond Love, the couple was cast in a negative light as she and her ex-husband took to a live radio interview to settle scores with their private lives and marriage.

Unfortunately, the marriage ended with accusations of infidelity and domestic violence traded among the two.

She is reported to have recently married a new husband and even delivered a baby boy for him although her marriage with Pastor Love, the father of her three children, is yet to be officially dissolved.

5. Esther Smith

Esther Smith and her husband Rev. Kwame Ahenkan Bonsu (to whom she had been married for four years) were involved in an acrimonious divorce that was played out in the Ghanaian media.

While the singer accused Rev. Ahenkan of beating her up and having an affair with their house help, her husband also accused her of cheating on him with another man. After the accusations and counter-accusations had been going on for some time, the marriage was dissolved.
