The young dancehall artiste Akosua Kwakye who is widely known in the music world as AK Songstress says Gramophone award (Grammy) is about talent and not hype.
She disclosed on Power Entertainment show that as everyone is talking about Grammy, they have to put it in mind that it takes talent to win but not hype.
“An underground artiste can do good music and if he or she does the presentation well, she can win Grammy which is not hype” she told host Agyemang Prempeh.
she said “Hype is good which for once in a while you have to tap into but it shouldn’t always be about the hype”
“When you watch Yaa Yaa’s performance, she is having Grammy’s performance but how many of her songs is being played on radio, TV and everywhere we go?” Songstress quizzed.
AK Songstress further said she don’t get it clear when people talks about hit songs.
“But what is a hit song, what does it contain, what is expected of one to do a hit song for we to respect his or her career?” She asked.
Per her ideology the VGMA is a recognized award which even pushes up the career of an artiste if being won.
