Hearts Of Oak humble Wydad Athletic Club in Accra

Accra Hearts Oak on Sunday defeated Moroccan giants Wydad Athletic Club in 1-0 win.

Hearts are now in 1 goal advantage into the second leg of the preliminary round of the CAF Champions League in Morocco.

Wydad had a good start by making Hearts Of Oak goalkeeper, Richard Atta, make two quick good saves in the 6th minute which denied them an early lead.

Hearts Of Oak was also denied a chance to score after Emmanuel Nettey fired a close shot that flew pass the goal post early in the first half.

Hearts Of Oak’s Raddy Ovouka got subbed off for Williams Dankyi in the 21st minute, after picking up injury just 10 minutes after the sub.

Hearts then broke the deadlock with a cross from Ibrahim Salifu as Isaac Mensah calmly slid the ball into the opponent’s net.

Although there was many chances created in the second half, it saw no goal from both teams.

Wydad has never won a match against any Ghanaian club in Ghana since 1987.

On Friday, October 22 in Morocco, Hearts will face Wydad for the 2nd leg.
