Diana Hamilton says she has no clue about the controversial E-levy Bill.
The bill which seeks to tax electronic Mobile Money and bank transfer transactions has been a hot debate across Ghana as the NDC and some Ghanaians oppose the bill. According to many, the bill will only burden Ghanaians with more hardship.
Asked about her position about the bull being pushed by the NPP-led government, the 2021 VGMA Artiste of the Year said she doesn’t know what the bill is about.
“I’ve heard people talking about it, but I don’t know what it entails. I think it is a topic for discussion at the moment, and there is a lot of debate ongoing. I pray that whatever decision comes out of that will favour the Ghanaian,” adomonline.com quoted her to have said.
The electronic transaction levy has turned into a hot political debate ever since the Finance Minister, Ken Ofori-Atta, announced it. However, the ruling NPP government officials have been backing it and convincing Ghanaians to accept it.
Amidst the debate, some social media users against the bill have been lamenting over how some Ghanaian celebrities have ignored to address the matter.
If we take a clue from Diana Hamilton’s comments, it either means Ghanaian celebrities have zero knowledge about matters that concern their fans and supporters or they don’t have the gut to speak about it over the fear of political victimization.
